The objective of the METSOFC project, funded by the EU 7th framework programme, is to develop the next generation of metal based solid oxide fuel cell - SOFC - stack technology.

The project partners will develop and test metal supported SOFC cells. New metallic stack materials will also be developed and tested, including new robust insulating seals between layers. Finally, the developed stacks will be tested up to the 1 kWe level.

The project consists of a vertically integrated group of partners all supplementing each other and bringing the required competence, knowledge and experience into a focussed development approach. The partners possess competencies ranging from fundamental materials and electrochemical science to materials and component processing and manufacturing.
