Risø DTU - a leading technical university

Risø DTU is the National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), which is a leading technical university in northern Europe. Risø DTU counts around 700 employees, of which 125 work in The Fuel Cells and Solid State Chemistry Division, 50 of them devoted directly to SOFC projects.

Developing SOFCs

Risø DTU has been involved in SOFC research for more than 20 years and has a considerable know-how in the production and the testing of materials, cell components, fuel cells and stacks. Since 2001, a close co-operation with Topsoe Fuel Cell has been in place, with the purpose of developing commercial SOFCs.

Focus on two fuel cell types

Risø DTU facilities include a prepilot production line with a capacity of several tens of thousands of cells per year. Currently, research focuses on two cell types, metal supported cells for operation at 650-750°C and anode supported cells for operation at 750-850°C.
